I love being a swim instructor at Sunsational Swim School. Right from the start, I felt I was as important as the next swim instructor. I felt respected and cared for as a part of the team. Although I was nervous about my interview, it did not turn out to be so bad. Then, when I finally started seeing clients, I felt prepared and ready with the help of Sunsational Swim School. Finally, whenever I felt there was a problem that I could not solve, Sunsational Swim School was there to support and guide me. It may not be a normal work environment that we must check into every day, but yet, I have never felt so connected to a company. Thus far, I have not had any negative experiences as a swim instructor at Sunsational Swim School. So why should you be a swim instructor for this company?
Here are three reasons why I became a Sunsational Swim School instructor:
Flexibility
As a SSS swim instructor, there is much flexibility in everything you do with this company, including scheduling, picking clients, location, etc. All these choices are done online. The company will send you a listing of the client(s), the swim package purchased (number and length of time of lessons), the client’s location, and the schedule that works for the client(s). From there, you can either accept or decline this swim package depending on your flexibility.
During my time at Sunsational, I have appreciated the flexibility since I not only teach swim lessons, but I am also a full-time graduate student with two other part-time jobs. With that being said, some locations and schedules do not work for me, so I will decline the swim package. Do not fret, the company does not forget about you if you decline swim packages. You will soon receive another one when it is available. The flexibility not only allows me to be a responsible and reliable swim instructor, it also allows me to live the life that I want to live.
Creativity
Are you a creative person? Then swim instructing is perfect for you! As a Sunsational Swim School instructor, it is expected that instructors come up with lesson plans and swim lessons ideas that best pertains to their client(s). The swim techniques and skills you teach a child would be taught differently with an adult. With a child, it is important to keep their attention while having fun during the swim lessons. With an adult, more explanation and practice would be ideal. Either way, it is expected that instructors are able to adapt to new ideas to incorporate in their private swim lessons.
As an instructor, I have had to use my creativity a lot, especially working with children. For example, with one student, we would use a noodle to practice swimming, while with another child, we would use my arm’s as a support to practice swimming. Adapting to each child’s needs in swimming lessons definitely brings a creative outlet that needs to be expressed. Also, adding creativity as a swim coach makes swim lessons more fun and allows for overarching goals to be reached. Are you not as creative as others? That is okay too because Sunsational is there to help you when needed, but I am sure that if I you can do it!
Independence
Do you like being your own boss? Well as a Sunsational Swim School Instructor, you have the freedom and opportunity to work or not to work. Once you accept a client to work with, it is your responsibility to reach out to your clients and introduce yourself. It is all up to you to ensure a safe, professional, and enjoyable environment with your swim lessons.
With Sunsational Swim School, independence does not mean you are all alone. There are employees waiting by the phone, ready to help both client customer service and instructors questions. There have been incidents when some clients will not agree with you as an instructor and that is okay. Try working that independence to work on a collaborative relationship with your client. However, if it comes too overwhelming or you feel you need some help, feel free to call Sunsational Swim School. As a swim instructor for this company, there have been times when I needed help and someone was always there. So work that independence, but remember you are not alone.
Overall, Sunsational Swim School are looking for swim instructors who may be looking for flexibility, creativity, and independence. They expect instructors to pass rigorous background checks, carry full liability insurance, love children, has experience, and are patient and caring. Does this sound like a job you can do? If so, what are you waiting for?Apply today to become part of the Sunsational Swim School family!
Samantha Nguyen’s bio:
My name is Samantha. I am 25 years old and a full-time graduate student in the field of psychology. I have been a swim instructor for 2½ years; 1 year at Sunsational Swim School. I enjoy teaching babies and young children because of their eagerness to learn and have fun. Although, it is always a fun time in the water when teaching someone to swim. I enjoy the smiles and excitement that are expressed from the parents and children as they see the progression with each swim lesson. My favorite part of the job is being able to be a guide in teaching someone to swim. The job is neither difficult or easy, but instead it is fulfilling and inspirational. When I am not teaching someone to swim, then I enjoy my time with my family and my two dogs. My favorite color is teal, my favorite food is spaghetti, and my favorite movie is “The Croods”.
